eco2soft is an online Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) tool developed by baubook for evaluating the environmental performance of buildings throughout their entire life cycle. It enables users to compare construction solutions, assess embodied carbon, analyse resource consumption, and select building materials based on verified environmental data, including Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs). The tool supports data-driven decision-making during the design phase, helping to optimise buildings for lower environmental impact and improved sustainability. Within the EXCEL4Housing 4.0 project, eco2soft contributes to the development of digital and green skills by providing learners and professionals with practical experience in life cycle assessment, low-carbon building design, sustainable material selection, and circular construction principles. It is particularly relevant for training future specialists in lifecycle carbon assessment, sustainable construction, and digital building design, supporting the transition towards energy-efficient and climate-resilient housing.

Digitalization (secondary)

Objectives

To assess the environmental performance of buildings throughout their life cycle, compare construction solutions, support sustainable material selection, and enable data-driven decision-making for low-carbon and circular building design.

Target audience

VET learners, higher education students, architects, engineers, BIM professionals, sustainability consultants, construction project managers, and trainers involved in sustainable, low-carbon, and circular building design.

Benefits

eco2soft enables users to make informed design decisions by assessing the environmental impacts of buildings throughout their life cycle. It supports the comparison of construction solutions, selection of low-carbon materials, and optimisation of building designs based on verified environmental data. By using the tool, users can improve their understanding of life cycle assessment (LCA), reduce embodied carbon, promote circular construction practices, and develop practical digital skills for sustainable and climate-resilient building design.

Data requirements

Users need building geometry, construction assemblies, material specifications, and building product information. Basic knowledge of life cycle assessment (LCA) and sustainable construction is recommended, although the tool provides guidance through the assessment process. The tool uses verified environmental data, including EPDs available through the baubook database, to perform the assessment.
